Have you ever read Xenogenesis? It's a long essay he wrote in the early 1980s addressing how favs are to writers. It doesn't seem to be available online, but he really lets the nasty fans have it.
You'll be thinking about this on your upcoming weekend at the comic con I'm sure😃
I'm going to try and NOT think about it at WorldCon, although I often do whenever I interact with some of the committee. :-P
Seriously though, I'm well aware that many fan folks have issues with self confidence. Knowing that helps, although no one likes a nasty or know-it-all fan.
Oh man. The committee is a part of the issue🤦🏾 I expected them to act as a line of defense against toxic fandom. You'll have to engage in Jedi mind tricks on them.
I agree. In his own essays he said he was selective as to who he let into his private world. You've probably felt how some people can disturb your inner peace without necessarily doing anything. Just something off about their energy, so you limit your time with them.
I've seen up close how fans can be both draining and off-putting with their begavior towards creators, so working a table at a comic con can be anxiety inducing.
“You've probably felt how some people can disturb your inner peace without necessarily doing anything. Just something off about their energy, so you limit your time with them.” - oh yes and I politely break up with them. We need boundaries especially when you are building online.
This is short and powerful. Thanks, I’m bookmarking this as a reminder about boundaries.
Thank you very much for reading. 8 hope it gives you great value.
This is the path. Believe me, I know. I'm glad you posted it, it needed to be shared. Good on you! :)
Thank you for reading, Sara😉
You've been in these places so you know.

I think I have read it, but it's been a while.

Ha-ha. ;-) Yeah, I'll have to sharpen up my mental awareness training tricks before I go.
I'm sure you'll be fine 😉
Yeah, it's all good.
I think you can be brilliant and prickly, generous and guarded.
I support having boundaries.
Maybe Ellison just chose the truth that protected his energy first.
Thank you, Jay.

It’s almost Monday Jay.
Happy New Week :)
You know how to set boundaries and enforce them, so you can navigate creepiness and awkwardness better than most people.
Wishing you a great week ahead 🤜🏾🤛🏾
