I was reading a bunch of comics from Mexico and other Latin American countries. My favorite was Kaliman, about a man with such highly developed mind control he didn't need a weapon because his mind was his weapon.
When I was a kid, only one afternoon newspaper published the James Bond comic strip, illustrated by the master Yaroslav Horak. Unfortunately, my parents didn’t buy that newspaper, so I wasn’t able to enjoy that magnificent work. I don’t think it’s fair to compare formats. Back then, storytelling was different, and the daily cliffhanger was what kept the comic strip alive. And the magnificent art, of course.
I grew up in Puerto Rico, which put me in this unique position to have access to comics not only from Marvel and DC, but comics from Latin American countries and European comics. Titles like Memin and Aguila Solitaria, and from the European end titles Fantomas and Diabolik. Great stuff!
They are well made. I like that squiggly style of thin lines, but I feel it's too long a story for this particular format.
I think I'm going to do a follow up video because in the same book there's a comic strip adaptation of The Living Daylights, and that went smoother as a read.
The longer the story the less installments it should be delivered in.
007 is the coolest
Agree! In these strips you get James Bond from before the diversity, inclusion and representation era.
Which is so important
True!
The comics actually look pretty cool! I thought they might look like lazy newspaper repurposed material but the art looks good.
I used to read Spiderman, Batman, Kerry Drake, The Phantom, Mandrake, Tarzán, Magnus: Robot Fighter and so many others. It was an amazing time🤓

You have a good point. The world was more patient then, and people were willing to wait. I remember waiting for cliffhanger serials of Kaliman.
But it was cruel to set you up with a kick-ass ending and make you wait!😭
Kaliman? Where are you from?
